Apple crumble with oat topping

. Serves 4. 10 steps
filling Spread filling in a pie dish, and sprinkle crumble topping over. Dot with a little extra butter. Bake in a moderately hot oven 45 minutes.
5 apples peel and core peel Just cover with cold water, bring to boil, simmer 15 minutes reserve 1/3 cup (drink the rest)   combine and cook for a few minutes
cut flesh into chunks cook, covered at first about 10 minutes or until they just begin to get soft, then uncovered; then discard cloves
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 cloves
1 tablespoon cornflower mix
1/4 cup cold water
50g raisins   stir in
ground cinnamon

25g rolled oats Rub butter into dry ingredients until it's like breadcrumbs. Then sprinkle over a little water and rake with a fork so it comes together into small pebbles
40g flour
1 teaspoon muscovado sugar
45g cold butter
few drops water

It's nice to mix up the apples. Cox apples have good taste and keep their shape. Bramley apples have very good taste and turn to mush. Softer sweeter dessert apples don't need cooking.
