A favourite holiday biscuit
Mother's Red Book
8oz flour     rub in Roll thinly, a few millietres thick. Cut into strips 4" by 1", slit the middle, twist into a pretzel shape. Deep fry at 180ºC until golden brown. Store in an airtight container, preferably several weeks.
2oz butter  
3 egg yolks beat lightly   knead to a smoth dough
1 egg
2oz sugar
1/4pt single cream
pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda  
flour  
Serve dusted with icing sugar.
