Gazing at the end of the snow
The handsome moon, drifting south over the mountains
The old snow drifted like a cloud to the end of the forest
—coloured surface like the sky—trembling
The cold sunset within the city walls

Looking southward to the remains of winter
The beauty of the moonlit mountain at the end of night
Floating on clouds above the melting snow
The forest appears bright as dawn breaks
Deep within the city the people tremble at the approaching sunset
[a sunset so close to dawn is indeed fearful]DD
I gaze towards the south waiting for the snow to end,
But clouds amass like a beautiful mountain range that floats.
And then a clearing in the sky opens up to reveal the forest
Like the centre of a walled town
Expanding to reveal a cold palid sunset.

At the cloudy elegant mountains in the south,
Covered in snow, like a floating cloud.In the clearing sky, the forest appears bright,
And within the city walls the cold evening spreads.IW
Expecting snow from the south
The majestic mountain range in the far south is overcast;
The clouds above carry a heavy weight of snow.
Then the sky clears, and the trees on the mountain flanks show clearly
But inside the city, the clear evening sky heralds a cold night.
